SEEING DOUBLE

WHAT I WORE IN BARCELONA

This is my first look from our trip to Barcelona ….and as a married woman!

I can’t wait to share photographs from our wedding day with you, it was truly an incredible day.
We are eagerly awaiting the images from our photographer so I thought I’d flip things and share images from our mini-moon instead.
I was looking for a dress for my family hen night and I’m so pleased I picked this one, I bloody love it! For the hen night I wore it with red heels and big tassel earrings, but for sunny Barcelona I swapped my heels for espadrilles and added in a straw bag. These accessories gave the dress that perfect holiday feel. It’s such a fun dress to wear.
While out for a walk we stopped by the Jardines at Diagonal Mar, we loved the abstract mosaic tiled sculptures and metal frame work, contrasted by beautiful leafy trees that surrounded them. Whilst mooching, we also spotted a lake and took another set of outfit photos there too. More from there to follow.

Getting cosy with a good book

amy_blog_067amy_blog_078

This post lands at just the right time, for starters i’m still poorly (boo!) – spending my time sleeping, reading, sleeping, watching Netflix, oh and more sleeping. If only I currently looked as pulled together as I did when we took these snaps!

There another good reason for this post going live now, that’s because the nights are drawing in, there is a slight chill in the air and golden colour e d. leaves are starting to drop – to me this is the perfect time to get cosy on the sofa and read a good book.

At the moment I have two excellent books on the go, their genre couldn’t be further apart!

Dior or Die by Angela M. Sanders

Now I love a crime drama or a murder mystery, combination of both featuring a vintage clothing store, well this book is right up my street! Dior or Die is the second book in a series, set in Portland, Oregon, where vintage clothing store owner Joanna Hayworth finds herself in yet another tight spot. I loved book one ‘The Lanvin Murders’ and I can’t wait to read books three and four!

Getting back to Dior or Die, Joanna (the main character and much loved by me) has plans to upgrade her store, but her hopes. Have been derailed and costs are mounting. When she wins an auction lot consisting of three trunks packed with vintage haute couture, Joanna thinks her luck has changed; but little did she know it was about to get much worse! It soon transpires that the high-society owner of the trunks is found dead – poisoned, and police seize the auction lot, leaving Joanna with even more debt.

What follows is the false conviction of her friend, wrongly jailed for being a diamond thief, oh, and a convent of quirky nuns dependant on her help. There’s only one way to navigate these stormy waters; Joanna must find the murderer…..and fast. This book is full to the brim with thrilling plots and plenty of action. The authors beautiful description of vintage clothing stirs me to drop everything and go vintage shopping, without the murder and diamond heist of course. If I had th e en ergo to drop anything, except my sleepy body on my bed right now.

Happily by Sophie Tanner

How far will you go for your ‘Happily Ever After’? Chloe Usher’s had enough of being asked why she’s ‘still single’. People can’t seem to understand why she’s not freaking out on the slippery slope to spinsterhood. But, as far as Chloe’s concerned, life is sweet; she’s happy and she loves her job, has great friends and adores her flat-share right next to Brighton beach. The story starts one summer evening, after ‘helpfully’ being advised by an all knowing busybody that she will never know what love is until she has children, Chloe decides to make a stand and says ‘actually, I do!’ announcing to her friends that she’s going to marry herself.

She’s not quite prepared for the huge reaction to her news on social media and finds herself thrust firmly into the public eye; suddenly she’s a spokesperson for every crazy cat lady out there. With the warm support of her colourful extended family, Chloe attempts to justify her self wedding and the events that unfold take her on a bumpy journey of self-discovery – making exciting new connections and dealing with old ghosts from her past.

This book is all about self love, its original and a light-hearted subversive tale, challenging the notion of ‘settling down’. I think it’s well worth a read, it perfectly sums up how society pressurises women to believe makes the aged old notion of you’re not happy unless married and having kids – this book is a compelling read and will inject a you with a healthy dose of self-love! Enjoy.

Pretty In Pink

amy_blog_001amy_blog_021amy_blog_024Pink to make the boys wink!

I’ve had this pale pink dress for a number of years now and although I may not wear it very often, I do love to dust it off and give it an outing. I think it’s pretty clear to say that I am a fan of wearing a midi length dress or skirt, something about this length makes me feel ultra-feminine and pretty.
Lets just give these shoes and socks combo a little love. This pair of pale pink glove style shoes are from New Look and such a bargain at only £19.99. It’s the perfect price to test out a granny style of shoe. The mid height heel is just perfect for me and I will be snapping up more glove style shoes to add to my collection. They are versatile too, I think they will look adorable with skinny jeans!
For this look I went ‘full granny’ and teamed sparkly little ankle socks with a mid height heel. To finish off the look I added a satin bomber jacket and grabbed my favorite bag of the moment, yes you guessed the cute patched number from Zara. I built this outfit up, starting with a trusty well loved dress, to my new favourite, completing the look with shoes, new accessories and jacket.

Moody Blooms…

amy_blog_002amy_blog2amy_blog_009We had a wonderful weekend at Dave’s parents and I’ll be sharing that with you very soon but for now here’s a little dress I’ve fast fallen in love with. I love the moody flower contrast between the dark patches to the light blue hues. It’s a cute little pinafore shape and I’m looking forward to making it preppy come Autumn but for now I went for more relaxed boho feel, layering it with a t-shirt and adding tights as it was a mixed weather kind of day… We seem to be having a lot of those lately! amy_blog_013amy_blogamy_blog_005amy_blog_021amy_blog_017amy_blog_010What I’m wearing –

Red Hearts…

red_blog_photos_060red_blog_photosAnd Moody Sky’s!

At the weekend Dave and I went to visit Somerset house to see a photography exhibition, you can read more about that here. The weather was crazy, one minute beautiful blue sky’s, the next it was pouring down with heavy rain! We managed to dodge most of the rainy spells by being inside the gallery.
For my outfit choice I was feeling a tad girly and opted for my printed heart dress. To brighten up the look I added my red bag and in an attempt at keeping dry/cooler while in the sun I went for my trusty trench coat. I went for half my hair up, to keep me from looking windswept.

Girl About Town…

central4central1Hello!

It’s been a couple of days since I last blogged, the weather, being busy at press days and doing freelance work is all to blame! I’ve been lugging my camera around with me all week but due to rainy weather haven’t been able to capture my outfits. Finally a break in the weather allowed me to get some outfit photos in, my dear friend Jermaine (seen in my halloween post as a vampire) kindly took these pics while about and about in central London. Its quite convenient having a friend who’s into photography and knows how to use an SLR . Might be calling on his photography skills again, now that its dark at 4 pm, makes blogging tricky. Damn you winter!!! I have a lot of new goodies I wish to share with you so hopefully the weather will stay nice and dry and I’ll be able to snap away at the weekend.

Fashion Favorites…

sunday_015 Red_Hat1

This outfit consist of some of my favorite items at the moment. This dress is so easy to throw on and makes me feel good. The hat is my new favorite hat and these cut out brogues, I don’t know how I’ve not shown you them till now!? When worn with coloured tights you can really see the cut out detail! The jacket hasn’t left my side since buying it. I feel the hat and jacket combo gives this dress an edgy feel. I added the little red bag to tie in the dress, I’m a sucker for coordination!

The Clash…

new_dress_049NewDressI’m ever so slightly in love with my new Topshop dress, in-fact I wore it over and over since I brought it. At first I wasn’t sure on the clashing prints but after a few browsing trips, then a trying on session I realised it had to have it and I headed to the tills and I was out the door before I knew it. Now I’m a big fan of the clashing prints, the silhouette  is another point I was sold on. They even have the same style in a different print but that one can wait till next payday! It’s still remained quite warm, considering were now in October, so I didn’t need to many layers. Just my army jacket and fake furry scarf and I was set. I hope this weather continues!new_dress_020new_dress_042new_dress_001new_dress_038new_dress_026NewDress1What I’m wearing –

Secret Gardens…

Garden3Garden2Garden1We visited some beautiful gardens while away, these were in Menton near our were we were staying. Like most of the South of France everything is built on hills or the sides of them. This garden was no exception, wandering pathways and staircases lead to a beautiful house and view at the top. It was a rather warm and lovely day to explore. I wore my Topshop dip hem dress and my new black bag. Which I’m totally smitten with, it also had a bright pink lining which is super cute and fun.

Flower Child…

FloralCrown FloralCrown9

I’m really pleased with these photographs and the outfit, it all came together beautifully. I got this floral crown from Mad Elizabeth and I new how I wanted to style it, I’m starting a collection! Then when I came across this dress in the Topshop sale, I just knew they’d make the perfect pairing! I added my little loafers, studded “kisses” belt and army jacket to toughen up the look. This is an outfit I will definitely be rocking while on holiday next week. I’m beyond excited!

FloralCrown2FloralCrown7

The woodland was also the setting for my Forest Flower shoot. The contrast from winter to summer is clear with the amount of greenery. This is by far my favorite outfit photo spots. I think its so pretty and with lots of different interesting corners to explore making it the perfect picture taking location.
