Joshua Tree National Park

Part 1

While out in Los Angeles we took a mini break and headed to Joshua Tree National Park for the weekend. I’ve broken down our weekend stay into two parts as we managed to get two sets of outfit snaps while out here in the desert. The back drop was just too stunning not to take all the photographs. This place was like no where we’ve ever visited before, we were in ore of it.

Me, being me of course wore the most sensible outfit for a hike. I mean next time I will dress more appropriate, maybe in hiking shoes instead of trainers. Maybe in some sports gear too! Considering I was in a dress and trainers I still made a good go of it, hiking and climbing over all the rocks. I also had a stinking cold, who goes out to LA on holiday and gets a cold?! Typical! Again, I didn’t let that stop me and we had the best time exploring.

I can’t recommend a drive out here enough, were already planning our next visit for later this year.

Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica Pier At Dusk

Back with my second post from my LA postcard series. This time I’m sharing our evening spent exploring Santa Monica pier. It’s such a fun place to visit with neon lights and plenty of rides to go on. It was one of my favourite places we visited. Defiantly planning our return and to make more of that beautiful sandy beach!

I knew Santa Monica would make a great photo opportunity. It was great coming from cold and very rainy London to LA where it was perfect leather jacket wearing weather, I was able to dig out all my favourite summer garms for this trip.
This floral jumpsuit is one of my absolute favourite items of clothing I own, so naturally I opted to wear this for such a fun location. I styled its with this little pink bag to add an extra pop of colour and my trusty leather jacket to toughen the florals up a little. Also wearing trainers making it easier to explore and for comfort, I always opt for comfort. Plus I like the mix of girly florals with trainers.

LA Post Cards

Urban Light

Back in December I headed out to Los Angeles to meet up with Dave. He was out there for work and I was lucky enough to pay him a visit for 10 days. It was great to be reunited with my love, he had already been away for well over and week and I was missing him terribly.
We hinted up the sight of LA, ticking off some of my must see places off of my list. One of them was the Urban Light. It’s one of the most instagrammed places in Los Angles but thankfully when we visited it wasn’t too busy and we managed to get some snaps without anyone (or hardly anyone) in the background.
I’ve been blogging for many years now but can still get shy when stopping to take photographs in the street, mainly because people stop and stare. That was until I visited LA, so many people posing for that perfect instagram shot. I mean, we saw so many insta shoots happening. It made me feel at home and at ease, its like its a normal thing to do out there. So we got snapping away!

I have plenty more to share from my trip and looking forward to my next visit!

Ready For Spring

Hello New Spring Dress!

I’m so ready for spring its unreal. I can’t wait for the sun to be shining, the evenings to be light and hopefully the cold wind to be gone! Last week we had a teaser of spring but sadly that didn’t last too long. I’m still ditching the tights and have no intent on wearing them again until next winter.

Which brings me onto this new dress, it’s a Primark special and a bargain price of £15. I must admit I’m not the biggest Primark fan but then I stubbled across this dress I rushed to the tills to make it mine. For its first outing I wore it with trainers but for its second I opted for ankle boots. Adding my trusty biker jacket and I was ready for a coffee date with Dave.

I’m also wearing a necklace I picked up with birthday money. I love anything with my initials on and got this Celine initial dupe from Urban Outfitters. Its a really great affordable version of this huge trend and pretty pleased with this little beaut. Expect to be seeing me wearing it all the time from now on!

Dress – Primark
Necklace – Urban Outfitters
Bag & Boots – ASOS

Girls Supporting Girls

Happy International Women’s Day!

Last year I wrote about how lucky I am to have a supportive and strong female friendship group. I’m happy to say I still have this, in-fact me and the girls have just booked a weeks getaway for early May, and I can’t wait!

I still stand but the words I shared last year – Sharing the love is the best, whether thats giving a fellow blogger a supportive comment, or linking Instagram snaps to a coffee date with a pal who’s feeling down. It’s great to see us being supportive and showing just how proud we are of each other.

I am proud to call myself a feminist, its such a shame that still to this day some people misunderstand, which is utter nonsense as it means seeking equality. The Oxford English Dictionary definition of feminism states – the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.

I’ve created some new illustrations in honour of International Women’s day. I’ve also created them as wallpapers for your phones, so if you fancy head over to @illustrating_amy to grab on for yourself! All these ladies are available!

A Weekend Get Away

In Bristol

Back in January we headed to Bristol for a weekend to celebrate my Mothers birthday. It was my first time visiting the city and wasn’t sure what to expect. Thankfully we had a blast and loved the city. It was vibrant, trendy and full of good food, like, so much good food! I would highly recommend a visit.

Speaking of good food, we went for brunch at Spicer + Cole. A great spot to suit everyones dirty needs, I had the biggest hot chocolate and avocado on gluten free toast with poached eggs. You can’t go wrong with a classic!

After brunch we head to the St Nicholas markets for a mooch around. Ending our day with a gin and tonic in a local pub and pizza at the Stables. Let me just tell you now, it was one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time. I had minted lamb on mine with a gluten free base. Sadly I didn’t get any snaps, mainly because it was dimly light but also because I was busy stuffing my face.

No visit to Bristol is complete without a visited to the suspension bridge. I also took advantage of the beautiful architecture of the Georgian buildings and got Dave to snap some outfit pictures for me.

Later that day we did an escape room for my Mothers birthday present. I originally thought this would be naff but honestly it was a blast and the Escape Hunt Bristol was a great laugh with really good choice of themes to choose from. We managed to get out in 41 minutes, you get an hour to escape. Pretty pleased with our time!

We also had burgers on a boat, Three Brothers Burgers. It’s such a fun concept and the burgers were great too!
I loved wandering around the riversides and exploring all the restaurants on boats. We also popped onto a boat for a couple of cocktails.

Sunny Days Ahead

Leopard Love

We’ve been enjoying sunny and rather mild weather here in London, its as if Spring has Sprung already! We took these snaps last Sunday while on our way for Brunch. I do love our weekend routine, sadly I’m working this Sunday but will be making the most of Saturday. Especially as my father is down in London, I’m looking forward to catching up with him over lunch.

I’ve been living in this dress recently, it just so easy to wear and looks good. One of those you can just throw on and go. I can’t get over how much I love this bag and dress combination. In fact I cant get over how much I just love both of these items individually, this dress was the best £25 I’ve spent and in-fact I’ve been trawling the H&M website in search of similar dresses, if you see any send them my way. Back on to this beaut of a bag, for such a small bag it actually fits a lot inside. Plus isn’t it just the cutest!

Weekend Fun

This weekend Clare came to stay and we celebrated my birthday – it was actually on the 11th but I had to work that day and the weekend leading up to it. It was lovely a mild weather that we headed to a local park we hadn’t explored before and soon regretted not visiting it sooner. It’s a lovely park not to far from us so I expect lots of visits here over the summer months.

After a walk around the park we headed out for dinner. To one of our favourites, Honest Burger and damn it was good.

I’m wearing my new birthday jumper from my work gals. They know me so well and picked this beaut from Topshop. Honestly it’s so fluffy and cosy, I blooming love it.
I’m also sporting a new pair of Vans I picked up with birthday money. I also brought classic old skools with birthday dosh too. I really fancied some checked ones and so pleased I snapped these up. I love the mix of prints and cans see me rocking these over the warmer months with my summer dresses.

On Wednesdays We wear pink

Pink to make you wink

With valentines day just around the corner, my minds gone into planning cute outfits. I love a good dose of red dressing and while searching the high street for some inspiration and saw so much lovely blush and Burgundy garms’ this sparked the idea to create some tonal looks.

This jumper is dreamy and I long to own it. this stripe tee is a wardrobe classic and these cropped jeans are Devine, I would like to own some, maybe in denim wash tho, as its more versatile but I do love this peachy colour oh so much! I really love these colours together and if I had endless budget I’d be snapping up every item in these illustrations. Alas, budget comes to play so for now I’ll continue my make believe outfits with illustrated versions 🙂

Some of my favourite beauty bits, which would complement these pink tonal looks perfectly. Featuring some lovely clothing bits from & Other Stories and Topshop. Plus some trainers I’m desperate to get my hands on but maybe in black, as you know, they will go with everything.

Casual Weekender

Sunny Saturday

A simple Saturday outfit for our usual weekend routine heading for coffee. It was bloody chilly so I opted for a relaxed outfit of jeans and a jumper. I’m really into neutrals at the moment and love the shade of this grey jumper with my camel coat, the colour combination is rather pleasing to me. Note itself buy more camel & grey clothing!

We’re well into February – my birthday month! Sadly my birthday falls on a Monday this year and the weekend leading up to it I’m having to work. Instead I’ll be celebrating it properly next weekend. I think we’re going to head to Kew Gardens, its turning into one of my favourite things to do for my birthday as I’ve been a couple of years in a row now.

I’m on the hunt for a nice new outfit to wear over my birthday weekend but not having much luck. If you have any suggestions of stores to check out, send them my way.

What I’m wearing –
Jumper – Topshop
Bag – ASOS
Jeans – New Look
Coat – Oasis
Trainers – Adidas
Hair Scarf – Vintage
