British Summer Time

Stuck in a creative rut & finding Inspiration again

First of all I’d like to apologise that blog posts have been so few and far between of late, well in-fact this year… I’ve been in somewhat of a creative rut and there’s lots of things going on behind the scene that are taking up a lot of energy and time but are really exciting. I can’t wait to share it with you but more on that announce another day, I know, I’m such a tease!

For now I’d like to talk about creative funks. Recently I’ve found myself in one and its been hard to shake. I go through phases where I’m really inspired and love the content I’m producing, and other times I feel I’ve lost my way and unhappy with my blog/instagram feed. I needed to stop and evaluate take time to reflect on what I didn’t like, why I didn’t like it and how I can grow my style, but also reflect on what I do like about my feed. I think it’s really important to think about the things I do like and not dwell on the negatives, instead use these to spurs me into change it.

I needed out of this rut and looked to others for inspiration, my biggest source became Pinterest. I created a mood-board for Instagram content ideas and the creativity started flowing. This board isn’t really for styling ideas but more for shoot concepts, locations and poses. I’m so over seeing the same old images on my insta feed, of girls standing against pretty railings or a floral walls. I want to create more movement in my images, more interesting poses, you know, something a bit more fun.

While out for a walk (not necessarily planning to do outfit photographs as Dave’s back was playing up) we strolled past one of our favourite spots in the common. With no fishermen in the way, we seized them moment and snapped away. Stopping for a moment to reference my Pinterest board, checking for pose ideas, from that this set of photographs were born. I’m so pleased with them and for the first time in a long while, I’m proud of them. Everything had came together perfectly.

I’ve also had a little hair cut since my last appearance on the blog. I think I had about 4 or so inches chopped off, it feels so good!
Right, I’m off to get pinning some more ideas for my next shoot and pen down some words on our big announcement coming next week.

Weekend Adventures

Stopping to smell the flowers

We spent last weekend in West Sussex with my father, having an early celebration of his 60th birthday… His birthday isn’t until August, so it is very early but we won’t be able to be together on the actual date. My sister was over from Greece for the occasion too.

My father rented a cottage for us all to stay in for the weekend. It was the cutest little place with an adorable little kitty that lived in the gardens. It was a great, fun family weekend. Which mainly involved eating in the local pub and sitting around chatting.

On the Sunday once the rain stopped we headed for a wander round a local garden. It was full of beautiful flowers, secret pathways, cute dogs and so many bubble bees! It was such a good weekend hanging out with my loved ones. The weekend ended with my sister treating me to a new Mac laptop, I know, I’m lucky aye! Goes without saying, my sister is better than yours ๐Ÿ˜‰
I no longer need to borrow Dave’s laptop and instead have my own rose gold beaut!

Going for a hike…

Joshua Tree Part 2

Here is my final instalment of my trip to the USA and my last post from the beautiful Joshua Tree National park. I mean, just look at this landscape. I’ve never seen anything like it, so beautiful! Thankfully we are heading back to LA later this year and I’m really excited to head back here and do more exploring.

Yet again, I’m wearing a rather impractical outfit for our hike but you know what, I was comfy and managed to climb to the top of a very large and rocky hill. Also a little tip, if heading out here in December, wear more layers than I am. It was fine while the sun shined but when the sun went behind the clouds it was bloody cold. Next time I’ll wear hiking boots and more layers.

We had the best time in LA and I can’t wait to visit again. We’re heading out in September for my sister in-laws wedding, first hitting up Las Vegas, I have so many points pinned on the map of where we want to visit! Then we’ll have a week in LA, I can’t wait to explore more places and some of our favourites we went this time.

Have you ever been to LA or Joshua Tree National park and what did you think?

Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica Pier At Dusk

Back with my second post from my LA postcard series. This time I’m sharing our evening spent exploring Santa Monica pier. It’s such a fun place to visit with neon lights and plenty of rides to go on. It was one of my favourite places we visited. Defiantly planning our return and to make more of that beautiful sandy beach!

I knew Santa Monica would make a great photo opportunity. It was great coming from cold and very rainy London to LA where it was perfect leather jacket wearing weather, I was able to dig out all my favourite summer garms for this trip.
This floral jumpsuit is one of my absolute favourite items of clothing I own, so naturally I opted to wear this for such a fun location. I styled its with this little pink bag to add an extra pop of colour and my trusty leather jacket to toughen the florals up a little. Also wearing trainers making it easier to explore and for comfort, I always opt for comfort. Plus I like the mix of girly florals with trainers.
