Mimi and Lolo’s SS16 Crocs campaign

I’m excited to present Mimi and Lolo’s first look-book. We teamed up with Crocs to style their new Spring/Summer 2016 collection.  Lois and I have been busy on Instagram, sharing our joint adventures (make sure to give us a follow, promise to follow ya back!). I’m really enjoying having someone to bounce ideas around with, plus it’s great fun hanging out with a blogger pal to collaborate with. So, let us know what you think of this project,  it is the first of  more to come.

If you haven’t checked out Crocs lately, you are in for a treat, they have really upped their game.  I was flicking through the catalogue and thinking yes I like those, and yes those too.oh and yes…. You get the drift, I was like a kid in a candy store. It was pretty hard to narrow it down but Lois and I managed to pick three pairs each and style them up in our own unique way, hopefully giving you a taste of what Crocs have to offer, in stylish comfort.

We had so much fun shooting these images,  our typical British weather never fails,  it tipped  down with rain. This was fine with us we were dressed for the occasion all thanks to our Croc booties – we literally splashed around in puddles for ages! I chose the ‘Chelsea Rain Boots’ mainly because they looked like a stylish Chelsea boot, clue is in the name 😉 My look was heavily festival inspired, wearing my paisley midi dress, gold glittery ankle socks, army green jacket and my trusty fedora hat. I could totally rock this look at Glastonbury, right!? They work well just walking the dog on the common, stylishly, of course.

It seems Lois went for a festival vibe too, styling this seasons must have “Bomber Jacket” from Zara and comes adorned with these pins and patches (I am totally lusting after it!). Lois layered the jacket over a white dress and white shorts, a super cute red backpack and thick ankle socks. Her choice of rain boot was a navy pair of the ‘Jaunt Shorty’.
As you can see we fully road tested these rain boots and I can vouch they are waterproof, comfy and will totally rock any festival goers outfit!

The following day, the sun came out to play – so Lois and I met up in East London to style up our second look from the Crocs haul. I’m modelling the Leigh 2-strap wedges’.  They are effortlessly chic and the comfiest heels I have ever put on my feet – it is literally like walking on soft pillows! They have a Mules vibe about them that I am diggin’. To style these beauties, I opted for my current addiction, it’s fast becoming my favourite midi dress.  I chose this, knowing that the black base will complement the shoes and emphasise the floral print.   I just love how it matches this blue bag that I’ve teamed with it – when a match works, it works!

Lois also loved the wedges from ‘The Leigh Collection’ but she really liked the graphic ankle strap version in blue.  Lois has styled  her Leigh wedge with a tonal blue outfit, enhanced by pops of purple coming from her ombre hair and gorgeous beading detail on the dress.  What a cute bag.

My final look features these ‘Isabella Sandals’, again these sandals are insanely comfortable and easy to wear. I styled them with this denim dress and vintage floral shirt. I will defiantly be taking these sandals on holiday, they will be perfect for lazying around the pool as they have amazing grip.

So take a trip into Crocs 2016, you will be hooked, just like me.

Transitioning Your Wardrobe

illustrationsIllustrations by me –  Christopher Kane, J.W. Anderson, Rag and Bone, Emilio Pucci.

With Christmas in the rearview mirror, fashion girls are turning their focus to what’s ahead. A new year is beginning, and that means a new wardrobe needs to make an appearance. Staying consistent with your style is fine, but as a new year shapes up, you’ll definitely want to refresh your fashions and make this your most stylish year yet.

And although we are still struggling with the impending winter chill, we also know that fashion waits for no one. With pre-fall styles already being showcased, it feels way too difficult to wait for actual spring to wear the spring/summer styles we saw hit the runways back in September. We’ve waited this long, after all, and isn’t that long enough?

For this post, I wanted to take a look at some of the hottest SS16 trends – ones that you can mix into your winter wardrobe without any hassle. Think of it as a way of wishful thinking the more we transition our wardrobes from winter to spring, the faster spring will arrive, right? A girl can dream.

ss16trendsSo without further ado, here are four SS16 trends to start bringing into your look, no matter what the temperature is outside.

1. Jumbo Ruffles
It seems that this season bigger is definitely better, and subtlety has no place. Oversized ruffles and bows were seen at Oscar de la Renta, MSGM and JW Anderson, and the excess of fabric will prove to be useful when all we want is to bundle up in giant coats and thick clothes. Surely, you’ll be able to find a ruffled dress to layer or a loud coat with these daring details.

2. Oversized Cardigans
Sticking with the too-big theme, another huge trend from the runways is the oversized cardigan. Although you might not need any more reason to invest in one of these cozy garments, just remember that styling is key. To avoid looking frumpy, Refinery 29 suggests that you “Dress your cardigan up by layering it over silky dresses and feminine skirts, or go full grunge with ripped jeans and combat boots.” This for sure is easy to mix into any spring sumer wardrobe. ss16_06

3. Sneakers
If you thought that trainers would exit the fashion scene along with its companion, normcore, you’re mistaken. While the athleisure and normcore outfits are being traded in for more feminine looks, the sneakers are here to stay. And luckily they’re offered in a variety of unique, girly styles that you can wear from the snow well into the spring. Just browse these lists for unique styling inspiration if you’re new to the sneaker game… I need to up my sneaker game, and I’m looking to get a pair of classics for my Birthday, as I love my Nikes I picked up in NYC.

4. Silk Slip Maxis
The slip dress makes an appearance every now and then, and it’s always just as sensual as you’d expect. Back in action for Spring 2016, lace and silk numbers hit the runways in longer form, making this trend wearable for the colder months. Think of it as your ultimate layering piece, to be hidden beneath a chunky coat and edgy accessories to juxtapose the softness. You might even want to layer a turtleneck underneath, and in doing so, you’ll be eons ahead in chicness.

There are abundants more fashion trends hitting down for SS16 but these four are my top picks, and ones I feel can transition into our daily wardrobes with least fuss.
Like I mentioned above, I’m looking to up my sneaker game and pick up another pair for my birthday. I also feel a chunky cardigan is not only essential in these colder months but can be a stylish layering a compliment, and coincidentally layered over silky slips seeing you through these chilly months into spring.

What are you’re thoughts the SS16 trends, are there any others that take you’re fancy that I’ve not mention? Check them all out courtesy of Flare.

That Old Black Magic

“That old black magic has me in its spell,
That old black magic that you weave so well,
Those icy fingers up and down my spine,
The same old witchcraft when your eyes meet mine”

This is becoming quite the tradition creating a spooky photo-shoot, this year I roped in Dave’s sister. I’d been pinning ideas like crazy over on my pintrest board, and when I knew Clare was up for the shoot I set my idea on an angelic and evil witchy type characters. I felt as Clare has golden blonde hair she’d best be suited for the angelic witch and I’d go for the evil one, we started by getting our goth on and whited out our faces, the eyes were inspired by Mad Max and to bring back a little femininity we went with dark burgundy lip stick.

Top Male Style Icons…

I thought it would be fun to mix things up a little and share some male style icons. Every now and then I share snippets of Dave’s outfits – this is something I’d like to do more of, hopefully on our trip to NYC he’ll let me take his picture! I remember when growing up men wore suits all the time, no matter what the occasion. The suave, dapper look gradually gave way to jeans and a t-shirt, and the next thing you know men can wear sarongs (think Beckham) and no one casts a sideways glance. Things have got a bit better since then, as men are now reaping the benefits of embracing fashion and are getting more judged more for their style and fashion sense by their female counterparts. Having come across this recent research by Ladbrokes which has some pretty surprising results, I decided to share what I feel if my ‘perfect man’. If you were thinking of growing a mun (man-bun) then abandon the project immediately, because I can now reveal that women don’t like those at all. In fact, where us ladies are concerned, a simple short back and sides will see you right. It’s unlikely that any women would consider a quiff or a man bun as being attractive though, as even the classic Elvis flick is no longer liked – it’s just to large a flick! It’s better to be completely bald (think the delightfully British Jason Statham) than sport any of these hairstyles.

As women idolise celebrities for their men to look like, who are the biggest current male style icons?

johnny_depp_38469-why-is-johnny-depp-sickened-by-his-fellow-actorsJohnny Depp

Johnny is probably arguably one of the most sought after men on the planet and will continue to be regarded as a style icon for all ages. The actor, who began his career as a rock musician before being discovered by none other than Nicholas Cage, has a range of looks, but he’s at his undeniable best as when he’s gracing the red carpet in his suit and fedora hats. A fedora hat wearing gent, gets my vote every time!

Beckham-HM-campaign-2015David Beckham

What can you say? David Beckham is the origin of the term ‘metrosexual’ and is also the only man able to wear a sarong without looking pretentious. He also embodies the athletic look, is one of the foremost sporting icons in the world, holds his own in a Calvin Klein advert, and was one of GQ magazine’s best dressed men of 2014 and to top it all off he’s a family man, which just makes us crush harder!

wallpaper_di_david_g_sDavid Gandy

David Gandy has been hailed as the most handsome man in the world. His chiselled features are known the world over and has his very own style guide to educate society’s male population. The model is commonly seen in a suit and tie, but also rocks a woollen jumper like a pro.

benedict-cumberbatch-ice-driving-cBenedict Cumberbatch

If it wasn’t enough to have a designer name, Benedict Cumberbatch is also a sharply dressed gent. Just like his on screen character Sherlock Homes (which I love) suits and waistcoats are part of his fashion staples, and the sophisticated gent of today would do well by copying him. He was named as one of the most stylish men at the Oscars this year.

Harry-StylesHarry Styles

On the other end of the fashion spectrum is 1D star Harry Styles. Rarely a suit in sight, Harry does well with a white T-Shirt and jeans, or a black shirt and fedora hat. He has taken long curly hair to the max, and certainly wears a tattoo well.

Do any of these males top your style icon list and who’s you’re favorite out of these gents?

Fleur de Peau…

hair_band_001Happy New Year All!

I’m excited to share with you some special photographs Dave and I created for accessory brand Fleur de Peau. With a bohemian, retro style hairbands hand crafted designs from Lille in Northern France. As soon as I saw the Noushka AW13 collection, beautifully styled and the photography by Lyne,  it just captured my imagination! I wanted to create my own version of  whimsical romance and had intended for a woodland location but due to British weather (it always rains when I have big plans!) we… err, well Dave set up this studio in our bedroom against our lovely slate grey wall and I’m so pleased with the results!
