Sunday’s Girl

Although these are recent purchases, I had considered saving this outfit for a special occasion or a nice day out,  but as I was feeling low this weekend (though i’m not 100% sure why), I decided dust myself down and try to pick myself up, I thought to myself, why not get dressed up in my  new red outfit… those colours will surely cheer me up?

Oh boy! It really did the trick.  It’s so true, sometimes just getting dressed up and wearing something nice cheers me up.  I still plan to wear this outfit to a nice event or day trip, I just don’t have any outings planned currently, but who knows what’s around the corner?
I am presently enjoying a love affair with the colour red. It’s a recent thing and started when I was holiday shopping wardrobe looks for Florida. I guess my inspirational muse was Miss Minnie Mouse and Disney, rekindling my love for all things red. Since then, I have added complementary pieces to build up a new collection,  working well with my red themed items; working beautifully together.
Look at this little pop of yellow sunshine – let’s say ‘hello!’ to my dreamy Topshop bag – I’ve been wanting to team it up with something red for a wee while, I guess the classic ketchup and mustard colour combo really appeals to me.  I find it  satisfying the way these colours  pop off one another. I find it appealing how this lil’ bag picks up on shades of yellow in the skirt print. Whilst on the subject, what a right old bargain this skirt was.  I was wandering around Sainsbury’s doing a spot of food shopping and snooped this gorgeous print in the distance.  Isn’t it the perfect summer skirt?  It would be a great piece for holiday or a scorching hot day like today.  It’s lightweight cotton and has wonderfully deep pockets (I love a skirt with pockets). This look gives me a bohemian washer-woman vibe and I dig it.

I was on a roll and decided to try something new with my hair.  I often wear it in a ponytail while I’m busy around the house and  have debated  how to wear this skull scarf tied around a ponytail for sometime.  I think I found just the right up-do look to complete my outfit. What do you think?
